“My father”

My father is fifty-one years old now.

When he was a child, he studied very hard, as a result, he could enter a college.

He majoured in economics and learned how to win pachinko.

He said, “When I was a college student, I often skipped my classes and play pachinko.

Since then, he is never lost of pachinko.

He has won one hundred-thousands yen per a year.

He has been doing it since he was a high school student, smoking lots of cigarettes.

He also said, “When I was playing pachinko in my high school age, I have met a teacher and played pachinko each other”.

He is the King of Pachinko as Elvis Presley is “the King of Rock’n’ Roll”.

I believe he will never lost at pachinko.

He will continue to win, I think.

“Where is this? PART-2”

There is holy place is Meiji Gakuin University.

When we go there, we pray and sing songs.

At the lunch time everyday, we attend the something.

“Where is this?”

When I go there, I feel comfortable like a paradise.

The reasons are below.

Firstly, whenever we go there, we enjoy seeing beautiful landscapes.

Secondly, even if climates are wrong, we can stay very comfortable because of air conditioner.

Thirdly, the place is always quiet, so when we think about something, we can get good ideas.

Thus, the place is like a paradise, I think.

“Elvis Presley”

Many people love Elvis Presley who was a great singer, an actor and a soldier.

Some people say,”He is a King of Rok ‘n’ Roll.”

He sung lots of wonderful songs.

Individualy, I like “Love Me Tender”, “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Burning Love”.

They are like his soul.

Listening to his songs, I fell in love in his beautiful low voice and I can hear his screem from his soul.

He was top singer, but, ironically, due to it, he became a workaholic and drug addiction gradually.

Drug addiction us like playing pachinko.

Lots of money lost in vain at one time.

As a result, he died at the age of forty-two.

His life is like a bubble.

He became a great singer, but after reaching the peak, he disappear like a bubble.

It is sad thing, but even now, his many enthusiastic fans exist all over the world including me ,in spite of he died over thirty years ago.

I’m twenty years old now, but I love his songs.

He never die in my mind.

I’ll continue to listen to his wonderful music.

“The Load’s Prayer”

“The Load’s Prayer” is the most basic pray in Christianity. I pray it on Sunday chapel and when I don’t know what to pray, I pray it. This pray is very simple and the only pray that Our Father in Heaven gave us.

 you will be done on earth as in heaven.

 Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

“Plastic Surgery”

Today’s agenda is “Plastic Surgery”. Recent years, medical technology is making great strides, including a plastic surgery operation and many people is operated on it. I agree with their actions. The reasons are mainly two. First of all, men and women tend to judge his/her worth in their figure unfortunately. I’ve read a book named “Human’s value is decided by his/her figure about 90 percent” After reading this book, I was disappointed, at the same time, it was fact, I thought. For example, it appears at romantics. When people who choose a boyfriend/girlfriend, they hope that he/she is handsome/beautiful in their minds. Unfortunately, tenderness is subordinated.  This tendency is remarkable when you hear young women’s conversations and “Miss Contest” . I think we should prohibit “Miss Meiji Gakuin Contest”. Women’s worth never decide their figures. Secondly, many people have inferiority complex about their figures, and due to it, they are in melancholy frames of minds. In fact, I think of myself ugly fellow. I have lots of inferiority complex. When I was a child, I was abused by many people because of my figure. At the school, they made fun of me and said to me, “You are ugly! You are ugly! You should die!” everyday. I couldn’t say anything because I’m an ugly fellow. Since then, I lost self-confidence. Many people might experienced or felt like my feelings, too. If they are operated on plastic surgery and feel happy, it’s wonderful, I think. In conclusion, I agree with being operated on plastic surgery.

“Eveline Study”

This short story was written by James Joyce who was born in Ireland and one of the most important author in the 20^th century.

After reading this short story, I found out this work writes consciousness of someone. If so, whose consciousness did this work descript? The answer can’t understand until we read the text line 46.  Line 46 says main character’s name is Miss

Hill Eveline.  She lost her mother a long time ago, and now lives with her violent father who once was very gentle till his wife dies. She is 19 years old, and has several

brothers and sisters ,but nobody protects her because they still die, works far away from their countryside, and so on…. Even now, she feels herself in danger of her father’s violence, which has given her the palpitations. Drinking alcohol, Her father insults her on Saturday night like this; you are squander the money because you have no head, so I can’t give you my hard earned money. Hence, she is obliged to keep the house together very hard. When we knew her circumstances, we will feel sympathy to   

her and think her life is undesirable, but she says my life is not only undesirable, but

also interesting things happen. I think the most interesting thing in her ever life was

lass a sailor named Frank. Frank is very kind ,manly, and openhearted. they loved

each other, but her father doesn’t approve their love, because he thinks she should return her countryside and do housekeeping for him eternally. Frank was also insulted

by Eveline’s father like this; Damned Italians! Coming over here!

              In my opinion, this short story’s main character Eveline is very poor woman, because of her father.   Her father is very bad fellow ; violent ,egoistic etc…. Perhaps

he gets some mentally sickness.

“Tokyo and Osaka”

If Japanese people are asked a following question, ‘Where is the representative

city in Japan?’ by overseas people, they probably say ‘Tokyo and Osaka.’ To say nothing of it , Tokyo is Japanese metropolis, where is the center of politics and economics. There is the Diet and Tokyo stock market. They have very important roles not only Japan, but also all over the world. About sixty years ago, Japan lost World War Ⅱ and it caused devastating damages, but thanks to our ancestors  efforts, Japan achieved a rapid recovery. This fact is praised for all over the world as ‘miracle of the Orient’. Now, Japan is one of the greatest economic country. On the other hand, Osaka is the center of Japanese culture, especially comedy. People who live in Osaka have sense of humor, and they pride themselves on it. If we go there, you think about inhabitants as if they are all comedians. In fact, the ratio of professional comedians who born and raised in Osaka are overwhelming high, compared with other prefectures. It seems that Tokyo and Osaka are absolutely different city, but they have commonnesses. First, they have many populations. In spite of small areas they have, many people live ;as a result, both of them are very high density population, and the price of lands are also high. People pay a lot of money to rent  houses. Second, they are central cities. Tokyo is central of east Japan, and Osaka is central of west Japan. Third, a variety knowledge are gathering Tokyo and Osaka. Compared with other prefectures, Tokyo and Osaka are intellectual cities; children are inclined to enter high level universities and adults also intelligent. Thus, both of Tokyo and Osaka are representative city in Japan, like the relationship of New York and Washington DC. in the United States of America, I think .

“Cat in the Rain Study”

Today, I’ll introduce to you “Cat in the Rain” written by Ernest Hemingway who was a famous American novelist in the 20^th century.

              This novel’s stage is Italy in 1925. In those days, the Fascisti party was made by Benito Mussolini and later Italy, Germany and Japan were leagued together. As a result, Nations Allies such as the U.K. and the U.S. versus the axis of evil went to war, called the Second World War This took place all over the world. It was a tragedy in world history. Many people were sacrificed. Remember this historical background when you read this novel, and you can read it from a different point of view.

              Before you read the text, pay attention to title: “Cat in the Rain”.

Do you find anything?—–I found there is no article before the word “Cat”. Why didn’t the author write an article before “Cat”? Did the author forget it simply? I don’t think so. I think this has significant meaning.  Maybe, by not writing an article, the author aimed at a variety of read

ings. Some readers may interpret that there is only one “Cat”, another readers may feel that there are several. Even after reading, we can’t identify how many cats do exist in this story. The answer depends on a reader. Also, This novel’s writer Hemingway is a famous as a cat lover. This point of view is always interesting.

              So, as state before, this novel’s stage is Italy. There were only two Americans stopping at the hotel. They were husband and wife. Outside the room, it was raining and the rain dripped from the trees. Water stood in pools on the gravel paths. The motor cars were gone from the square by the war monument. These descriptions seem to imply the future which goes to the Second World War.  In fact, this novel’s writer Ernest Hemingway took part in the First World War, so I think he might predict it.     

              By the way, this novel’s character “American wife” is often expressed “American girl”. I think used “wife” is mere social alias and “girl” is character she has. That is to say, she is artless. She says, “I want

a cat” “I want a cat” over and over again, as a result, her husband George got angry and didn’t listening to her opinion. He read his book for a long time.

              The expression “I want a cat”, at the same time, is an outcry in her mind. Maybe this American couple doesn’t have child, so wife might want to have a child (or children). In this novel, “cat” means “child”, I think. Thus, there might be no an article before the word “Cat”.

              And then, she studied her profile and says, “I got so tired looking like a boy.” This expression implies that she has an inferiority complex of her face and figure. Maybe the expression “girl” comes from her inferiority complex.

             Reading this novel, I found sometimes are writtenHalian, for example, “Il piove.” (It’s raining.) and “Si, Si, Signora, brutto tempo.”(Yes, yes, Madam, awful weather.)  Hemingway may emphasize this novel’s stage is Italy. Why did he emphasize?—–Because it contains significant meanings: as state before, this novel’s stage is Italy in 1925. Considering are historical background, the United States were Nations Allies and Italy was the axis of evil. The American couple might spies, I think.

              After reading this novel, to be frank, this was a very interesting novel and I want to read it one moretime, I thought, because this novels has variety of tricks. I think Hemingway is genius writer because using variety of trick and writing novel and it attract readers. He had ability to attract readers, I think.
